now might need an iPhone...

due to this new app. more importantly though, can it tell me if i'll like the rabbi, the service, the songs, the people, the area, the classes.... and where is the nearest and yummiest kosher restaurant??

sometimes, fashion posts are for the boys.

i'm a late bloomer to the j crew land. i used to think their pants were too boxy for me and therefore never shopped there. but a recent trip taught me otherwise, and i am now in love with their skirts and fancy tshirts (my new fav across the board).

so, i was walking by ex-co-workers mailbox today and saw the new j crew catalog. finders keepers! as i was flipping through, i noticed a picture of the moon is down. the pic looked exactly like what you see here, all vintagey and old. um, what? the line next to the picture said "shop our vintage book collection at the Men's Shop in Soho". so - now j crew is telling me how to further accessorize my preppy/hipster lifestyle with old books? that does work well with my already-beat-up leather messenger bag... ok, i'll bite. after some research i found this post about the new soho store, with a very cool slideshow. i lourrrrve the vintage cufflinks they show, as well as the general old-timey vibe of the store. have any of you lovely men been out to the new j crew manland? is it extra cool? or just regular j crew in disguise?

oopdaytz.

thanks to e, for pointing me in the direction of this. really really love hurley's mr. cluck's promo...

put on your dharma jumpsuits.

oh. man. the 2009 comic con is behind us. sadly, i was not there, but did follow some of the excitement on twitter. (more or less nerdy? discuss.) here is an article to get you going with lost scoops and insights. more to follow as i comb through.

most important recap from that article?
"
In response to a fan question, the producers said that the mysterious Jacob has never assumed the form of anyone else, such as Claire."

revised office.

pardon my absence. it's tough work when you're the boss!

while i wasn't layin' down the law, i was redecorating my little space (or "cube plus" as rabbi a calls it). got rid of a bookshelf for extra space, found a printer and third lamp... it's quite the cozy spot.

i also stole this quite-awesome poster from the production floor. hopefully they do not miss it. it's pretty apropos to have my office shoe factory right under a "the devil wears prada" poster....

so excited!

as you may or may not know, i will be off to alaska in august for a cruise with the landis fam. my coworker told me about an interesting development, and asked me to look out for it in alaska:

goo blobs!

that's right. there are "goo blobs" floating around alaska. the odorous substance has been described as "gooey", "gunky" and "hairy". hairy AND gooey?! wow. maybe it's flubber? anyhow, i will be sure to look out for said blobs, and will take pics for all to see on my return.

uh oh....

i don't like this, sam i am. apparently my irrational fears of the airport baggage handlers going through stuff may really be true. the police at jfk sent some fake luggage through, and they witnessed baggage handlers stealing laptops and cell phones! now, i'm not sure who doesn't travel with their cell phone on their person but STILL. and i'm traveling this weekend! all the more reason to pack light and carry on..... (which, in my almost-25-years, i have still not figured out how to do.)

you're awesome.

whether you're psyching yourself up for a raise, or just need a boost, this is for you.

what up me!

e: you're famous
me: i am???
e: you're one step ahead of the approval matrix

does this look familiar to you? looks like nymag thought it was cool too, and put it in their approval matrix for this week. yea, i'm awesome.

put that away.

does this make anyone else want to stab their eyes out? (if so, sorry for ruining your day. i can't help but share...)

mystery box.

great talk by JJ Abrams at TED about mystery boxes.... a very cool combo of technology, movies, magic, filmmaking, lost.

at least i'm in the top 10%.

woke up this morning to an email from "tim", the founder of pandora. among other things, he notified me that due to costs of royalties, pandora will begin capping monthly usage at 40 hours. he says, "most listeners will never hit this cap, but it seems that you might." damn straight i will, tim! i listen to pandora all day every day at work! his "first option" seems ok - paying 99 cents for unlimited listening after you hit your 40 hour monthly mark. but i am not going to start getting a membership to pandora. the beauty of it is that it's free! at least tim says they'll show you a counter, so you can see if you're starting to get close to your 40 hours. i'll keep listening, since i love it so, but does this piss anyone else off? what will the economy affect next??

at the end of his email, tim says to "please feel free to email me back with your thoughts." maybe i will....

this breaks my heart.

...and made watching the entire memorial service worth it.

mj matrix.

thanks to z (and nymag) for this michael jackson approval matrix. my favorite is "you're a vegetable. you're a vegetable" in the highbrow/despicable quadrant. not sure what that means, but i know i love it!
