thank you, e.

today, you are the king of linkage.

need some europe?

so, we finally made it to the cloisters this weekend! considering im obsessed with early christian-y art, this was a delight for me. (i almost bought a book that only had paintings of the crucifixion. i'm cool.) you might also like it if you enjoy: museums, beautiful parks, flowers, architecture, getting out of the heart of nyc. seriously - gorgeous scenery, lovely smelling flowers, beautiful views high above the hudson river. maybe you will even run into the tai-chi-shadow-boxing-zombie man who managed to entertain us for a good half hour.

in other news, apparently farah fawcett is not alone. i still maintain it was ok that mj eclipsed her death (come on people! we knew she was going to die since like, forever!), but it's interesting to see how many other celebs deaths were overshadowed by cooler dead people. sorry, ray charles....

bad week for celebrities.

also a bad week to be an iranian voter, but that's all fallen by the wayside since reports were confirmed that michael jackson has died. to this day, one of my absolute favorite things to do is listen to the thriller record with those huge headphones and just zone everything else out. i think it's very easy to remember mj for his recent legal and financial trouble, but when you look back at some of the videos.... that guy can perform.

this article is pretty great. considering i found out about mj being dead (well, at that point only tmz was reporting his death; everyone else was only reporting cardiac arrest) through twitter before i left work, the blogosphere moved quickly on this one. pretty amazing to think of what his super-super-extreme star potential could have been in the age of twitter/fb.

a few concerns now... what happens to his kids? from coverage i've heard today, it sounds like he truly loved them. i hope they will be taken care of properly. also, does he still own any of the beatles catalouge? where does that go? who now owns the mj catalouge?

i would highly highly recommend the following:
as much as i normally hate the 24-hour talking heads, i've been glued to cnn (and twitter and tmz and people). i'm sure there will be more here in the following days as more details are revealed, especially the autopsy which seems to be schedule for tomorrow.

do you know your colors?

what color are the spirals? if you say pink, green and blue, you're wrong...

they want to do what?

my brain cannot even begin to understand this. according to cnet, a "facebook movie" is in the works. does this make sense to any of you? i just can't figure out what this movie would be about. would it just be about a guy who sits around and we watch him post pictures, create invites and add new friends? why is this even a suggested movie?! of course, the powers that be already want michael cera to star. i think that makes sense, but then i remember that the movie's entire concept makes 0 sense. boo.

so many problems.

when i saw this story on ew.com, i just about lost my lunch (afternoon coffee, whatevs). not only do i despise elizabeth hasselbeck, i highly dislike kate gosselin as well. apparently, this morning on the view, hassel went off on kate, saying she should "get a job". after one of her co-lady-hosts tried to point out that her job is the show, books, etc (as stoo-pid as that may be...) hassely squeeched "i don't care!" it's like a battle of the idiots over who is more idiotic over there...

im not such a barbara walters fan...i don't hate her either, but sometimes i find that she's the only vaguely competant person on that show. anyhow, barb apparently said that
"if you have more than five children, you shouldn't be allowed to get divorced."

allowed?? maybe the issue is that these people had no business of having eight children in the first place! bah! any thoughts from my friends out there?

PS to hassely - what is YOUR job?! you were on survivor once, married a football player and somehow i should care about your opinions?

skweeeeeee!

would it be inappropriate to make this picture the background on my phone?

realization.

how did all of these shoes make their way to my office?

breakfast is important.

i stopped by my trusty DR this morning to get some cereal. it wasn't until when i got to work that i realized why it was such a super-duper fantastic idea that i had chosen to purchase cereal:

now, when i was a kid, i really hated breakfast (i still do, mostly). even if i had liked it, i would never have been allowed to get sugary cereals that also give you prizes. of course, i smashed my hand down into the box to find that bobbly pencil topper toy (?) immediately! but they must hide that toy way at the bottom so kids like me cant find it the first day. i guess i have to wait (and eat a lot of cereal). but i am definitely spending the afternoon cutting out that dino mask to scare my coworkers.

LED umbie. even though the point of this is saftey (i can see in the driving rain, and would-be, hit-and-runners can see me), you've got to admit it's pretty darn cool.

totally lost.

me: did you see the new ew lost thing?

a:
no?? put it on blogerstein.

me: ok it will be on my bloggy shortish.

yea, it's lost. doc is back with his highly anticipated column as a post-post-recap of the finale of lost, and of season 5. some delightful theories, both new and old, to tickle your lost brainbuds. also, seems like this will not be the last of doc, which is welcome news. i think we're all a bit lost-deprived.

meanwhile, has anyone been doing the rewatch? i have not, but may pick it up... let me know if you've discovered anything good!

if you give a puppy ice cream...

if you've been watching this week of colbert report: operation iraqi stephen, going commando, then you can disregard this post.

if not, may i ask why? ok, so you don't like stephen colbert. that's fine. he's not for everyone. but, i think it's really cool that he's spending this time in iraq with the troops and showing off their work and lives. i'm about the least patriotic person, but i've really been enjoying seeing the guys (and gals) and hearing from generals and, last night, from the deputy prime minister of iraq.

but it's not all seriousness, of course. i offer up this clip of stephen and tom hanks sending a care package to the troops
(or at least attempting to...)

viva la vida?

just a quick note to ask:

do you like coldplay?

if so, definitely check this out. and if you just like free music, you should check it out as well.

this also teaches us (well me, at least) that there are definite benefits to twittering...

need a little organization in your life?

is your monitor at work clouded by a mass of post-it notes? (Uh oh - flashback to 1997 - Um, well, ordinarily when you make glue first you need to thermoset your resin and then after it cools you have to mix in an epoxide, which is really just a fancy-schmancy name for any simple oxygenated adhesive, right? And then I thought maybe, just maybe, you could raise the viscosity by adding a complex glucose derivative during the emulsification process and it turns out I was right.) do you make lists, maybe on the stickies program on your mac, but then can't remember/access the note at work? what's a person to do?!

evernote is the answer, my dear friends. not only can you access it online through their site, but you can also download programs to your devices (pc, mac, blackberry, iPhone... palm pilot anyone?).

cool thing #1! your notes will sync up to ALL OF YOUR LOCATIONS. so, if you are at your work computer and you add a note through their online site, it will be waiting on your mac program when you get home! if you upload a picture note on your blackberry, it will show up on your pc at work! this would even be enough for me (dayeiu). i always make lists and need to update them and have them where ever i go... but short of carrying around a 5-subject notebook, this is the solution!

cool thing #2! evernote can search text in pictures! (this even made the IT dudes at work go googly-eyed.) if i take a picture of your business card, i can search in evernote for your name, and up pops the picture of your card!

additionally, you can have tags and different books of notes (like i have a separate one for work-related notes). i've been using it for a few days now and i think it's quite delightful. let me know if you try it and how it works out for you!
