the most ridiculous of them all.

this is one of those times when a picture would have been nice, but even that would not have captured the utter ridiculousness of the situation.

so. we were waiting to cross 1st avenue at 14th street. it was late-ish on saturday night, maybe midnight. we see a guy crossing the street in the crosswalk, coming towards us. he drops his cell phone on the street. a second later, he drops his phone again. i say (out loud), "ohh that sucks." and he must have heard me because when he got to the corner where we were standing, he looks up at us and says with a goofy grin, "sorry! i'm high!"

it seemed as though he felt like he really needed to apologize to us for the situation. don't worry, guy! we now have this amazing new-york-moment story! thanks!

so, i'm not sure if you guys have seen the new awesomeness to come out of the office gang over at nbc.com. in addition to their webisodes, which have been pretty good so far, they have started these fake websites. i featured a great one recently, but i just found a new site which i loooooove: andy and angela's gift registry. the updated news is that now in lieu of gifts, they are asking for donations to their favorite charities (of course, cornell - ever heard of it? - and various cat things). their old gift registry is still listed below, and while perusing it, i found this choice number: a hugging cats salt and pepper shaker set. um, i want two! thought you guys might like the heads up so you can figure out what to get them for their now-most-likely-not-happening-due-to-dwight-fiasco wedding.

apparently i am the fashion police.

it's also possible that i just saw some of the worst dressed people in the universe last night. not that i thought that naples, fl was any fashion capital. it's not. but the way some partygoers were dressed, you'd think they've never seen what normal people look like. here are two choice photographs showing the fashion-impaired. please keep in mind that these photographs do not include one of a woman who had made such poor fashion choices that all i could do was stare as she walked by.

um, i'm not sure what's going on here, but i doubt this was ever in style.

and i'm not saying you are. but sometimes the ridiculousness of winter can get you feelin' blue. here are two things which may cheer you up:

the good news is: i'll be in sunny florida tomorrow. woo! away from this freezing cold horribleness in new york. (sorry to all those who are going staycation style this holiday season... i'll promise to dazzle you with some florida pics that are sure to warm your bones. and you will also get a glimpse of the first pictures out of my brand new birthday/hanukah camera present!)

the bad news is: i have to pack. my family is notoriously terrible at packing in a normal fashion. when the cab to the airport comes for us, the deb is usually still cramming stuff into suitcases. i'm mostly a bit better than that, but i just don't like it. and this kind of trip is the worst to pack for - florida, chicago AND a wedding. i mean, i'm 12 kinds of excited for all of it, but ugh. too much to think about. so far, i've only determined the books i'm bringing (3, is that enough??), and started to think about shoes. at this rate, i'll be up until 2am deciding on different swim suits and dresses. at least my bridesmaid dress is already in chicago... here is a card from z which really sums up the entire situation:
